The table at the heart of your home
In most Indian homes, the dining table does far more than hold meals. It's where morning chai is poured, homework gets done, festive thalis are laid out and long family conversations happen. A table cover protects that busy surface and gives it a fresh, finished look every day.
At Coral Slub, we believe India was never beige, and your table doesn't have to be either. Our table covers bring colour, craft and easy care together, so dressing your table never feels like a chore.
Artisan-made, hand block printed
Most of our Table covers are original Hand block prints, made with artisans who carry the craft forward. Each motif is carved into a wooden block and pressed onto the fabric by hand, one impression at a time.
That's why no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Small variations in colour and alignment are the signature of handwork, not a flaw. When you bring one home, you're supporting the people and the skill behind it.
We offer a wide range of prints, from delicate florals and buttis to bold traditional motifs, so there's a cover for every table and every mood.
100% cotton, easy to live with
Our table covers are made in 100% cotton. That makes them practical for real family tables:
- Easy to wash at home. No dry cleaning needed for everyday spills.
- Breathable and natural. Cotton feels soft, drapes well and doesn't trap heat on the table.
- Gets better with use. Cotton softens with every wash, so your cover feels more lived-in and comfortable over time.
A table cover you can wash easily is one you'll actually use every day, not save only for guests.
Choosing the right size
Start by measuring the length and width of your tabletop. Then decide how far you'd like the cover to fall over the edges, known as the drop.
For an everyday, casual look, let your tablecloth drop 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) on each side, ensuring it stays clear of your lap when seated. For a more dressed-up look when hosting guests, opt for a 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 inches) drop on each side to create a fuller, more elegant finish.
Add the drop on both sides to your table's length and width, and compare with the dimensions on the product page. Seater labels like 4-seater and 6-seater are a helpful guide, but table sizes vary, so measurements are the safest check. For glass or glossy tops, a cotton cover also softens reflections and makes the dining area feel warmer.
Picking a print
The scale of the print matters as much as the colour:
- Large prints bring energy to a big six- or eight-seater table.
- Small, repeating motifs suit compact tables and breakfast corners, where a big print can feel crowded.
- Lighter, airy prints let colourful crockery and food take centre stage.
- Deeper, richer prints carry festive meals on their own, with very little extra decor.
If your dining area opens into the living room, pick up one shade from your cushions or curtains. The two spaces will feel connected without looking matched.
Layer it up
A table cover is the base layer of your table. Build on it to change the look without changing the cover:
- Add a table runner in a solid shade from the print for a dressed centre line.
- Set Placemats to mark each place, especially when you're hosting.
- Keep centrepieces low so everyone can see each other across the table.
Table covers aren't only for the dining room. Use a smaller one on a side table, a breakfast nook, a study table or a puja table to protect the surface and add a touch of colour.
Caring for your table cover
Hand block printed cotton stays beautiful for years with a little care:
- Wash it on its own for the first few washes, as hand block prints may release some colour.
- Use cold water and a mild detergent. Gentle hand washing is best.
- Dry in the shade so the colours stay bright.
- Iron on the reverse side to protect the print.
- Skip bleach and harsh stain removers.
When dal or curry spills, blot it at once with a dry cloth, rinse the spot from the back with cold water and wash as soon as you can. Hot water can set turmeric stains, so keep it cool. Always check the care instructions on the product page.
Frequently asked questions
1.What are Coral Slub table covers made of?
All our table covers are 100% cotton, which makes them breathable, soft and easy to wash at home.
2.Are your table covers hand block printed?
Most of them are original hand block prints made by artisans. Each product page tells you how that piece is printed.
3.Why do hand block prints have small variations?
Every impression is made by hand with a carved wooden block, so slight differences in colour and alignment are natural. They're what make each piece unique.
4.What size table cover do I need for a 6-seater table?
Measure your tabletop and add 15 to 30 cm on every side, depending on how much drop you want. Compare this with the dimensions on the product page rather than the seater label alone.
5.Can I wash my table cover at home?
Yes. Wash it in cold water with a mild detergent, ideally by hand, and dry it in the shade. Wash it separately for the first few washes.
6.Will the colour run?
Hand block prints may release a little colour in the first few washes. Washing separately in cold water keeps the rest of your laundry safe.
7.Why choose Coral Slub table covers?
Our table covers combine artisan-made hand block prints with easy-care 100% cotton, so they're special enough for guests and practical enough for every day. Because India was never beige.
